Holiday Monnayy

The holidays are a very stressful time for me. I seem to have more 'worry lines' and stress acne on my face than at any other time of the year. I'm always worried about having enough money for gifts for my family, friends, and especially this year, my significant other. No, I'm not married duh, but I do have a new person in my life :-)

In my opinion, money is a big factor when measuring someone's holiday spirit, on the outside. Some families spend hundreds of dollars buying lights for their house, bushes, and everything else that sticks out on the ground. Also, there are now blow-up snowmen, Santas, and any other holiday figure. I'm into the lights around the house and maybe a little reindeer in the front yard, but I think 16 blow-up figurines, 2 tons of lights everywhere, and a live nativity scene, is a little much. Anyway, back to my point. When driving by someone's house, I think many people measure the family's holiday spirit by how many lights and decorations they have in their home. Sometimes I bet people think, "Oh they are just a typical Scrooge, no holiday spirit whatsoever," when they come up to a house with no lights or decorations at all. In their defense, an obvious reason they might not have lights up is because they may not have enough money to buy decorations. Another obvious reason, they may have better things to do. They may be busy with work and trying to keep their family in line, simply not wanting to take the time to decorate. And one last reason, they might not celebrate Christmas! Hello!

All these reasons for not decorating is fine, absolutely excusable! But on the other side, people may not want to decorate because they are lazy. Maybe they don't like Christmas, maybe they are a Scrooge. Or maybe they just think other people look absolutely ridiculous with all the lights and decorations, and don't want to partake in such activities.

Whatever the reason may be, obviously not everyone decks out their home for the holidays. Whatever, it's fine with me! Do what you want.
